ARLINGTON, Texas – Ian Kinsler was more concerned about Opening Day than a new contract Friday morning.

The Texas second baseman said there were no new details on contract talks.

"I'm concentrating on playing baseball," he said. "I'm not really worried about that. We've got a game today."

Kinsler hinted that the sides nearly reached a deal.

"Close enough to be disappointed," he said. "But it's not done."

He reiterated that he didn't want to have contract talks drag into the season.

"It's going to be something that if they do continue talking I'm not involved anymore," he said. "I really don't want to be involved anymore. If that happens, I'm no longer involved in it and it becomes a one phone call type of thing I guess."

Kinsler will make $7 million this season and the club has an option for 2013 that will pay him $10 million.
