No. 20 Wisconsin hockey defeats UAA , 5-2

The Wisconsin men's hockey squad, now ranked No. 20 nationally, stormed past Alaska Anchorage Friday by a 5-2 margin. With their win the Badgers improved their unbeaten mark in conference play to nine games (6-0-3).

Junior forward Michael Mersch tallied two goals and added an assist to pace the host Badgers in Madison. The Badgers snapped a seven-game power-play scoring drought, tallying two goals while benefitting from the man-advantage.

All told, Wisconsin outshot UAA 37-14.

With their win the Badgers improved to 10-8-5 overall and 7-5-5 in WCHA action. Alaska Anchorage dropped to 3-15-5 overall and 1-14-4 in the league.
