Is one of the most storied rivalries in the history of the NFL ready for a name change?

Is "Cowboys vs. Redskins" no more?

If Washington D.C. councilman David Grosso has his way, then we might be seeing the end of Washington Redskins.

The Washington Post reports that Grasso hopes to introduce a non-binding resolution to change Washington's name from the Redskins to the Redtails.

The Redtails name is in honor of the Tuskegee Airmen.

“It’s been a long time that we’ve had this name associated with Washington, and I think its time we take a stand and change it,” Grosso said, according to the newspaper.

Cowboys vs. Redtails ... interesting.

Grasso is trying to get more support for his resolution, which he plans to introduce in a few weeks.

The Post reports that the resolution reads:

“Washington’s name has been dishonored by association with the word ‘Redskins.' Because it is well known in America and in nations afar that American Indians have experienced utmost suffering and disrespect over the years.”

This is not the first time that the controversial name has been in the public eye, but the team has never really addressed the situation.
