Two NFL players with Northeast Ohio roots are doing good deeds.

Former Ohio State and current Detroit Lions offensive lineman Rob Sims donated $30,000 to his alma mater, Nordonia High School, to cover pay to play fees for the school's football program. Sims paid the bill so no family would have to.

That news was shared via Twitter by Nordonia superintendent Dr. Joe Clark on Wednesday night.

Also, Youngstown native Brad Smith's True Foundation is again active around the holiday season.

This was posted on Smith's Facebook page last week:

"Know a family in need? Email us their story and Truefoundation will buy them Thanksgiving dinner! Families will be selected at random. Please send all emails to truefoundation16@gmail.com"

Smith was hurt in training camp, placed on injured reserve by the Bills then waived and signed a two-year deal with the Eagles earlier this month.
