New Mexico State outlasts Northern Colorado 67-63

LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- Daniel Mullings scored 20 points to help
New Mexico State hold off Northern Colorado 67-63 Wednesday night.

The Aggies (4-1) broke a tie early in
the second half with a 12-4 surge to make the score 48-40. They led by
as much as 11 during the second half.

Northern Colorado (2-1) would crawl back
as Derrick Barden hit 3-pointer and Tim Huskisson made a free throw to
cut the deficit to two with 2:49 to play.

New Mexico State answered with a pair of
Mullings free throws and a Renaldo Dixon dunk, but a deep 3-pointer by
Tevin Svihovec cut the deficit to one with 42 seconds left.

Following two missed free throws by Sim
Bhullar, Tate Unruh couldn't connect on a potential go-ahead 3-pointer
for the Bears. Mullings was fouled as he made a breakaway layup and hit
the free throw to put the game out of reach.
