Nedeljkovic, Wesley highlight Hurricanes' Day 2 draft haul

The second day of the draft saw the Hurricanes take a goalie many scouts had pegged as the best available, and a player with ties to the franchise's 2006 Stanley Cup title.

Carolina took Alex Nedeljkovic, with the No. 37 overall pick. Playing for the Plymouth Whalers, Nedeljkovic was named OHL goalie of the year last season with a 2.88 goals against average and a .925 save percentage.

In the fourth round (96th overall), the 'Canes took defenseman Josh Wesley, Nedeljkovic's teammate in Plymouth. He is the son of Glen Wesley, a part of the 'Canes championship run eight years ago.

Taking two Plymouth players should come as no surprise for the Hurricanes, given that Carolina assistant general manager Mike Velllucci was the Whalers GM and coach before joining the 'Canes this spring.
