FLAGSTAFF --
The Northern Arizona women's basketball lost 80-75 in overtime to Utah State on Saturday at the Rolle Activity Center. The Lumberjacks held a late lead in regulation, but a Utah State run forced the game to extra time.

NAU (4-4) and Utah State (4-4) played a close first half, with five points being the largest lead for either team. The Lumberjacks twice held that lead, but the Aggies quickly cut into it and the majority of the first half was played within one possession. NAU entered the half with a 32-29 lead.

The Lumberjacks came out strong in the second half and opened up an 11-point lead that was aided by a 13-5 run. NAU held a double-digit lead until the 9-minute mark before Utah State made its run.

The Aggies trimmed NAU's lead to two points with 2:30 left, but the Lumberjacks managed to push the margin back to seven with a minute remaining after a layup from Amy Patton, a 3-pointer from Tyler Stephens-Jenkins and two free throws by Vickie Toney.

With NAU up 68-64, Utah State's Jennifer Schlott hit a 3-pointer to cut the Lumberjacks' lead to one. Patton scored NAU's final basket in regulation after running the clock down to 6 seconds, but Utah State's Devyn Christensen managed to get off a last-second shot that tied the score at 70-all and forced overtime.

Patton and Shay May scored the first baskets of the extra period, followed by a layup from Schlott to put the Lumberjacks ahead 74-72.

With 2:21 left in overtime, NAU led 75-72 after a made free throw by point guard Vickie Toney.  It was the last point of the game for the Lumberjacks, though, as Utah State closed the game on an 8-0 run to pull off the come-from-behind win.

NAU shot 41 percent for the game and 30 percent from 3-point range. The Lumberjacks continued their struggles from the free-throw line, making just 11 of 21 attempts.

Four NAU players scored in double figures, led by Stephens-Jenkins' 17. Katie Pratt finished with 15 points, Patton had 14 and May added 12.
