FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Northern Arizona moved up in the Football Championship Subdivision rankings this week after a win over South Dakota. The Lumberjacks are now 24th in The Sports Network's top 25, 22nd in the FCS coaches poll and 20th in the College Sports Madness poll.

NAU held on for a 22-16 win over South Dakota on Saturday, the Lumberjacks' second straight win after they opened the season with a loss to Arizona.

It was also a strong week for NAU players individually. Senior cornerback Anders Battle was named the Big Sky and College Sports Madness Madness Defensive Player of the Week for his strong performance in the win, which included an interception returned for a touchdown in the first quarter for the Lumberjacks' first touchdown of the game.

And senior Andy Wilder was selected as the College Football Performance Awards National Punter of the Week. Wilder drilled six punts for a total of 305 yards, an average of 50.8 yards per punt. His longest punt of the game, his first, went for 66 yards. Out of Wilder’s six punts, three went for 50 yards or more.
