NAU hosts slumping Northern Colorado on Senior Day
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Northern Arizona will go for its fifth straight win overall and fifth straight home win Saturday against Northern Colorado, with kickoff on Senior Day at the Walkup Skydome set for 4:05 p.m. on FOX Sports Arizona Plus.
The Lumberjacks (7-2, 5-1 Big Sky) are ranked 12th in the Sports Network poll and 13th in the Football Championship Subdivision coaches poll this week. They have not lost at home this season and have not lost at all since Oct. 5 at Montana State.
NAU is coming off a bye week that followed a 48-27 win over North Dakota. In their four straight wins, the Lumberjack have scored 39 or more points three times and have averaged just under 36. At 5-1, they are tied for second in the Big Sky standings.
Northern Colorado (1-9, 0-5 Big Sky) is on a nine-game losing streak and remains in search of its first conference win this season. The last time the Bears won a road game was on Nov. 12, 2012, at Weber State.
Saturday's game will be the 14th between the two schools in their histories. NAU has won the last 10 meetings and is 11-2 in the series overall.
NAU is led offensively by senior running back Zach Bauman, who will be making his final Skydome appearance. Bauman is sixth in the FCS in rushing at 126.3 yards per game and, in his last outing, became the ninth player in FCS history to go over 1,000 yards rushing in all four seasons. He is the school's all-time leading rushing.
Defensively, the Lumberjacks are led by junior Austin Hasquet, who has 71 tackles. The team's next nine tacklers are all seniors who will be honored as part of Senior Day festivities.
