NAU hosts Alabama State in Prescott Valley

After opening its season with a pair of road losses to Iowa State and
Creighton, Northern Arizona's men's basketball team is back in action
on Tuesday, taking on Alabama State at 7 p.m. at Tim's Toyota Center in
Prescott Valley.
"This is a new, exciting venue for our team," said head coach Mike
Adras. "This will be a chance to showcase our basketball program and
our university. It is a nice opportunity to bring the Prescott
community and Flagstaff community closer together."
The Lumberjacks are coming off a 74-70 loss to Creighton on Sunday. Wayne Runnels had 17 points and 10 rebounds and Kenny Lawson Jr. added 10 points, including the game's final four, to lead the Bluejays (2-0).
Lawson's dunk with 18 seconds remaining put the Bluejays up 72-70, and after a missed 3 by the Lumberjacks, Lawson added two free throws with 5 to go.
Gabe Rogers led Northern Arizona (0-2) with 18 points, Eric Platt had 13 and Cameron Jones 12.
Creighton led 34-25 at halftime and pushed its advantage to 15 early in the second half before the Lumberjacks stormed back to take a 46-45 lead with 11:13 to play. The lead changed hands three times after that and neither team led by more than five the rest of the way.
This was the first meeting between the schools since 1959.
Tuesday night's game is he unofficial home opener for the Lumberjacks despite its neutral site
status.
