DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) Missouri Valley Football Conference Commissioner Patty Viverito says plans by some power conferences to phase out games against FCS opponents won't be a "death knell."

Viverito acknowledged Monday that the expected loss of revenue-generating road games against schools from the Big Ten and other major conferences in the near future won't be a good development for the Championship Subdivision.

Viverito says Valley schools will continue to seek out "guarantee" games.

Viverito says she's hopeful that power programs will continue to schedule FCS teams instead of lower-level FBS opponents. She says the selection criteria for the expanded FCS playoffs should further clarify the quality of the FCS in relation to smaller FBS leagues.
