EUGENE, Ore. - Middle Tennessee's Cordairo Golden grabbed fourth place in the triple jump, while senior Ann Dudley secured second team All-America honors in the high jump on Saturday at the NCAA Championships.
Golden, a native of Memphis, leapt a personal-best 15.95-meters (52-4) on his third attempt to earn a spot in the final round. He was unable to match that mark, but he jumped over 51 inches in three of his four recorded attempts. The junior earned first team All-America honors, finishing behind national champion Omar Craddock from Florida (16.92m), Manuel Ziegler of Memphis (16.48m) and Floyd Ross of New Mexico (16.13m).
"Golden did a great job jumping especially fouling on the first two attempts," said head coach Dean Hayes. "That's pretty tough to do and he came out and got a personal best. He did a great job."
In the women's high jump, Dudley snagged second team All-America accolades with her clearance of 1.80-meters (5-10 ¾) tied for 14th overall. Dudley attempted six feet, but could not clear in three tries. The senior closed out her career with four All-America honors (two indoor, two outdoor). She joins Dionne Rose and Jacqui Brown as the only MT women's track & field athletes to accomplish that feat.
"Ann capped a fantastic career and ended up second team All-American," noted Hayes.
Middle Tennessee capped the NCAA Championships with two first team All-Americans (Golden and Eliud Rutto) and five second team All-Americans (Dudley, Noah Akwu, Andre Hamilton, Demetrius Shelton and Emmanuel Tugumisirize).
