NEW YORK (AP) Mosler split foes in the stretch Wednesday to win the $100,000 Elusive Quality Stakes, the opening day feature at Belmont Park.

The 4-year-old colt trained by Hall of Famer Bill Mott beat Plainview by two lengths, his fourth victory in nine starts and first in a stakes.

Joel Rosario was aboard for the seven furlongs in 1:20.63 on the firm turf.

''It looked like we had no where to go, but he was always there,'' Rosario said. ''When I asked him to run, he did it all.''
