Morales drops appeal, will serve one-game suspension tonight

Published Aug. 11, 2016 4:03 p.m. ET

Designated hitter Kendrys Morales won't be in the Kansas City Royals' lineup against the White Sox on Thursday night. He'll be serving a one-game suspension instead.

Morales had appealed the suspension when it was handed down by Major League Baseball last week. He was disciplined after returning to the field on August 2 in Tampa Bay after being ejected in the ninth inning.

Morales will be eligible to return to action in the series opener against the Minnesota Twins at Target Field on Friday night.
