NEW YORK (AP) Olympic double gold medalist Mo Farah will run a half-marathon in New York City next month in preparation for his marathon debut.
Farah announced Wednesday that he will take part in the 13.1-mile NYC Half through Manhattan on March 16. He is scheduled to race 26.2 miles for the first time at the London Marathon on April 13.
The 30-year-old British star won the 5,000 and 10,000 meters at the 2012 London Games. Farah says ''I have been training hard in Kenya and hope to use the New York race to gauge my fitness one month out from my 26.2 mile debut.''
He won the NYC Half in 2011, his only previous appearance at the race.
