MLB Quick Hits: The snubbed fantasy All-Star team

With the All-Star game on Tuesday night, it's time to look at the best fantasy contributors who were left off the team altogether. For the sake of this exercise, replacement players will count alongside the originally named starters and reserves.

Here's the top scoring player at each position in FOX Sports Leagues not to be on an All-Star roster, along with their ADP (Average Draft Position).

A couple of notes right off the top:

Mookie Betts is seriously 5th in points out of all outfielders? It seems crazy, but Betts helps you in every single category and hurts you in none. He's hitting .278 with 10 HR and 13 SB going into the All-Star break.

Don't sleep on Cubs SP Jake Arrieta. He's outperformed a number of bigger names (Madison Bumgarner, Matt Harvey) so far this season, but isn't regarded as being anywhere near the same tier. He's still worth targeting in a trade for that exact reason.

According to baseball-reference, Hanley Ramirez hasn't played at shortstop once this season, but he's still eligible there. That's certainly a nice bonus for his owners.

Players with extreme splits against right-handed pitching like Josh Reddick and Adam Lind are much more productive than their ownership rates would suggest. If they're somehow available in you're league, you know what to do.

In other news...

Dee Gordon came flying into the second base bag with his fingers pointed out instead of up, and now he's out with a dislocated thumb. The good news? It sounds like Gordon may avoid the DL altogether, and the Marlins teed off on the Reds this weekend without him.

Ouch. Braves closer Jason Grilli suffered a torn Achilles tendon on Saturday. Jim Johnson will take his spot as closer and is a must-add.

Rays SS Asdrubal Cabrera is hitting the 15-day DL with a strained hamstring. I know shortstop is thin, but the 25.7 percent of you that own him should now cut him loose without any hesitation.

Mets OF Kirk "spell-check" Nieuwenhuis hit three homers in his first three at-bats on Sunday against the Diamondbacks. I thought only the Mets pitchers hit home runs these days?

Twins 2B and original All-Star snub Brian Dozier is on pace to hit about 35 homers this season. Is that good? That seems good.

Red Sox SP Clay Buchholz is on the 15-day DL with a strained elbow. It's a shame, becaue Buchholz was really heating up in last few starts and had won four straight decisions. I'd hang tight in fantasy and hope it's a temporary setback.

John Halpin will be back on Monday with more Quick Hits. Enjoy your evening.
