Mizzou suspends DT Beckner indefinitely after pot arrest

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Missouri defensive tackle Terry Beckner Jr. has been indefinitely suspended after a marijuana possession arrest.

Coach Barry Odom said Thursday that he was "disappointed." He said Beckner also would face disciplinary measures from the team.

The announcement came one day after University of Missouri police officers stopped the car Beckner was driving. Maj. Brian Weimer said officers smelled marijuana and found a plastic bag inside the car containing the drug.

Becker was booked, processed and released on a summons accusing him of possessing less than 35 grams of marijuana.

Beckner, from East St. Louis, Illinois, was one of the top recruits in the nation. His freshman season ended Nov. 14 when he suffered a torn ACL and MCL ligaments to his right knee.
