Missouri preps disciplined after urine prank

Players on the Monett (Mo.) High School girls' basketball team got some
distasteful news last week. The drinking water they had been provided at
a Feb. 4 game at Cassville had been contaminated — with
urine.

"We were informed of this incident Wednesday
morning, and by Wednesday afternoon, we pulled our students on the
girls' basketball team that were involved and let them know what had
happened," Monett R-1 School District superintendent Brad Hanson told the Monett
Times.

Monett players — and their parents — were
informed four members of the Cassville girls' team admitted to pouring
urine into the drinking cooler that was provided to the Monett team
during the game.

Those players have
since been disciplined, according to a statement from Cassville School District
assistant superintendent Jill LeCompte.

"We do not
condone these actions and regret that our students were involved in this
unfortunate incident." she said.

Specifics on the
punishments of the students were not disclosed. Meanwhile, medical
professionals are working to determine if the urine used in the
disturbing prank could pose health risks to anyone who drank the tainted water.

"We all need to remember that people make
mistakes whether we're adults or 14- to 18-year-old kids," Hanson told
the Monett Times. "We need to sit back, no matter how upset, appalled or
angry we are. I'm asking for our students, coaches and community to
take the high road on this and show we are the classy people we
are."

Cassville
won the Feb. 4 game 37-26.
