Having just completed development camp with the Minnesota Wild, Mathew Dumba has officially signed his first NHL contract.

The Wild announced Thursday that they have signed their first-round pick to a three-year, entry-level deal.

The 17-year-old defensemen will come to camp to try and make the Wild this fall but can return to his junior team if he doesn't make the club.

Last year with the Red Deer Rebels of the WHL, Dumba led all of the league's defensemen in goals with 20 and added 37 assists.

The 6-foot, 185 pound Dumba was the seventh overall pick in June's NHL draft.
