DETROIT -- Zach Miner is back with the Tigers organization.
The team announced Friday morning that Miner had been acquired from Kansas City for cash considerations. Miner, 30, will report to Double-A Erie to start his second stint with the Tigers.
Miner, who pitched briefly for the Tigers in the 2006 World Series, hasn't pitched in the majors since going 7-5 for Detroit as a long reliever in 2009.
He missed all of the 2010 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery, and split 2011 between Kansas City's Double-A and Triple-A teams. He hasn't pitched in 2012.
In four seasons with the Tigers, Miner appeared in 157 games (357 innings), going 25-20 with a 4.24 ERA. He has 217 career strikeouts and 145 walks.
