OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Mike Stoops has received a three-year contract that will pay him $600,000 annually to be the defensive coordinator for Oklahoma.

The university's board of regents voted Tuesday to approve the terms of Stoops' employment, which includes a $245,000 base salary and $355,000 for personal services and fundraising. Stoops also stands to get another $50,000 in May of 2013 and 2014 for staying with the Sooners through spring practice.

Regents also had to approve a nepotism waiver because Stoops will be working with his brother, Bob.

Mike Stoops was fired as Arizona's coach during last season and was hired earlier this month to be Oklahoma's co-defensive coordinator. Since then, co-coordinator Brent Venables left to run Clemson's defense.
