In other words, who is heating up and who is cooling off.
With that in mind, let's take stock of the current Minnesota sports scene.
Mikael Granlund, Wild forward
Granlund is up to 55 points on the season after scoring a pair of goals in the Minnesota Wild's 5-3 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks. He poked a rebound five-hole in the second period, then muscled another goal home after camping out in front of the net on the power play in the third period.
Karl-Anthony Towns, Wolves center
Team USA came up short against Team World at the NBA's Rising Star Challenge during All-Star Weekend, but Karl-Anthony Towns put on a show in New Orleans. He finished second on the team with 24 points and had 11 rebounds, the only player on Team USA to post a double-double.
Rem Pitlick, Gophers forward
Pitlick was the Big Ten's first star of the week after leading the conference with six points in the Gophers' weekend sweep of Penn State. He registered his first collegiate hat trick to lead the Gophers to a 6-3 win on Friday, then scored the game-winning goal Saturday in overtime to complete the sweep.
Richard Pitino, Gophers men's basketball coach
Pitino -- who has grown accustomed to calls for his firing during his four seasons in Minneapolis -- is suddenly the talk of the town. His Gophers are 20-7 on the season and riding a five-game winning streak following an overtime win over Michigan.
Matt Dumba, Wild defenseman
Dumba returned to the ice after a four-game absence for the Wild's loss to the Blackhawks. He probably should have stayed on the shelf until after Minnesota's off week. Dumba was a minus-4 on the night, and had a hand in Chicago's first two goals. Dumba was tangling with Jonathan Toews in front of the Wild goal, before being hit by a shot from that blue line that Toews stuffed home for his first goal. He lost another battle to Toews just a few minutes later, turning the puck over to the Blackhawks' captain below the goal line.
Devan Dubnyk, Wild goalie
Dubnyk surrendered four goals to the Blackhawks, stopping just 34 of 38 shots. It's just the sixth time this season that Dubnyk has given up four or more goals. It was an oddly sluggish night for Dubnyk, who fell victim to some spectacular playmaking by Toews, but also allowed a goal off a faceoff.
