Miami Dolphins activate rookie CB Xavien Howard off PUP list

DAVIE, Fla. (AP) -- Rookie cornerback Xavien Howard has been activated from the physically unable to perform list by the Miami Dolphins.

Howard, a second-round draft pick from Baylor, had been sidelined since he hurt his knee on the final day of minicamp in June and required arthroscopic surgery. He'll compete with veteran Chris Culliver and converted receiver Tony Lippett for a starting job.

Culliver has yet to practice while he recovers from a serious knee injury last Thanksgiving.
