Meyer says Braxton Miller 'excited for 2015 as a Buckeye'

The "Will Braxton Miller transfer?" rumors have enjoyed a recent revival, but Urban Meyer threw some cold water on them Tuesday morning on The Dan Patrick Show.

The Ohio State head coach called into Patrick's show to help promote a charity golf tournament in which he is participating, and the host mentioned he "heard there was a possibility" of Miller transferring for his senior year. The quarterback is able to do so and be eligible immediately because he has completed his undergraduate work at Ohio State.

To the question Meyer replied, "Yeah, I don't -- that surfaced in January, and I asked him, and he said absolutely not. Obviously, young people or anyone is allowed to change their mind. I have not heard that. I did not ask him. One of our strength coaches did, so I don't know where that's coming from. So I would say Braxton is staying is all indications I am getting. I don't go by hearsay, I just talk to the people involved and he seems to be extremely happy, excited for 2015 as a Buckeye."

Of course Patrick followed up with an inquiry about how he might divvy up playing time for his QB trio of Miller, Cardale Jones and J.T. Barrett this fall, and Meyer avoided giving away much.

"They've all done something to take Ohio State to the level we're at," crediting Miller for his performance in 2012 and '13 on offenses that lacked the same firepower around him as the 2014 team Barrett and Jones combined to lead to the national championship.
