Mets giving out Jacob deGrom hair hats hours after shutting him down for the season

The Mets have had a very unlucky season, losing Matt Harvey, David Wright, Neil Walker, Steven Matz and Lucas Duda for a significant amount of time due to injury. So what happened on Saturday shouldn’t come as a surprise.

New York shut down starter Jacob deGrom for the remainder of the season on Saturday due to scar tissue in the ulnar nerve in his right elbow, just hours before “Jacob deGrom Hair Hat” night at Citi Field.

Literally the unluckiest timing for one of the unluckiest teams in baseball. They set the night back in March!

This isn’t the only giveaway a player has missed due to injury; the Mets gave away a Harvey bobblehead and t-shirts featuring Duda and Walker this summer.

The trash bins outside the stadium will be filled with these caps tonight.
