Mercury to host blood drive, raise funds in support of Orlando
PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Mercury will host a blood drive and raise money to benefit the OneOrlando Fund at the team's third annual PRIDE Night event on Saturday, when the Mercury play the Dallas Wings at 7 p.m. at Talking Stick Resort Arena.
The blood drive, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, will be from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. inside the Casino Arizona Pavilion. Each donor will receive a complimentary ticket to that night's game. Donors are encouraged to make an appointment through the American Red Cross (call 1-800-RED CROSS or log on to redcrossblood.org, using sponsor code Phxmercury), but walk-up donations are also welcome, based on availability.
Fund-raising efforts for the OneOrlando Fund include:
--A silent auction for unique items and experiences donated by the team and its players, including being introduced with the Mercury's starting lineup, limited edition authentic game jerseys, Robert Sarver's courtside seats, lunch for two with Ann Meyers Drysdale,
--Proceeds from the sale of all "Mercury PRIDE" T-shirts at Team Shop locations.
--Cash donations will be collected in the Casino Arizona Pavilion, COURTyard and at concession stands.
