Jonny Venters

Bat/Throw: L/L
Hometown: Berkeley Lake, Ga.
Experience: Third season

2011 in review: Venters formed part of the formidable O’Ventbrel bullpen trio. He went 6-2 with a 1.84 ERA and led the NL by appearing in 85 games. The workload appeared to catch up with him as he went 0-1 with a 5.11 ERA in September.

Career highlight: Earned his first career save by throwing only one pitch against to preserve a 4-3 victory over the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium on June 3, 2010. Venters struck out one of the two batters he faced in the 2011 All-Star game.

Outlook: It should be more of the same from Venters, who become one of the most reliable relievers in his first two seasons. Thanks to an excellent sinker, Venters is 10-6 with a 1.89 ERA and six saves in his two seasons with the Braves.

You should know: Venters was a starter in the minor leagues, making 29 starts for Mississippi and Gwinnett in 2009, before being moved to the bullpen when he joined the Braves on April 17, 2010.
