Meet the Braves: Arodys Vizcaino

BY foxsports • March 2, 2012 invites you to meet
the Braves as we begin a month-long look at our team, player-by-player.
We'll revisit 2011 and project what 2012 might look like.

Arodys Vizcaino

Position: Pitcher
Height: 6-0; Weight: 190
Bat/Throw: R/R
Hometown: Yaguante, Dominican Republic
Experience: Rookie

2011 in review:
The Braves rushed Vizcaino to the majors, and he pitched well his first
month before he ran into a rough stretch where he gave up six runs in 1
1/3 innings. His ERA exploded from 1.69 to 5.73. He finished with 17
strikeouts in 17 1/3 innings.

Career highlight: Vizcaino earned his first big league victory with two scoreless innings in a 2-1, 11-inning win over San Francisco on Aug. 16.

Vizcaino finished last year with the Braves, but could start the season
in the minors. The Braves want the 21-year-old to work on his 95-mph
fastball and slider and the changeup he’s added. He pitched only six
games at Triple-A Gwinnett last season before going to Atlanta.

You should know: He was selected as the No. 2 prospect in the Braves organization by Baseball America for 2012.
