McGary expected to make his season debut

Mitch McGary, Michigan's preseason All-American center, is dressing for tonight's game at Iowa State and is expected to make his season debut.

Michigan coach John Beilein said Friday that he wouldn't dress McGary for a game until he was ready to play.

"If you see him in warmups, he's going to play," Beilein said.

McGary burst onto the national scene in the NCAA Tournament, moving into the starting lineup and averaging a double-double as Michigan advanced to the national championship game. With the departures of Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway Jr. to the NBA, McGary and Glenn Robinson III were expected to be the leaders of a young team.

McGary, though, has been sidelined since the summer with a lower-back problem. He was limited in fall camp, and only returned to full practice this week. Jon Horford was listed in the Michigan starting lineup, meaning that McGary will come off the bench against the Cyclones.
