Maxim Afinogenov proves the theory that when you're going well the game slows down.

Of course, at the speed Afinogenov moves the game always seems slowed down. He's just that fast. He always has been.

Thrashers Assistant Coach Randy Cunneyworth played with Afinogenov, then a 19-year-old, with the AHL Rochester Americans during the 1999-2000 season. He believes that little has changed regarding the speedy right wing.

"He was a pretty dynamic player even back then," said Cunneyworth. "He played not unlike the way he plays right now. He's a guy that when he got the puck and he used his speed, was a threat every time he touched the puck. It was an easy decision to put the puck on his tape as much as possible."
