Masterson, Indians agree to 1-year deal
Pitcher Justin Masterson and the Cleveland Indians will avoid arbitration.
The two sides have come to an agreement on a 1-year deal, the team said.
CBS Sports' Jon Heyman is reporting a salary figure on the deal.
And here's what that "below midpoint" part means:
A number of reporters spoke with Masterson Tuesday morning and the pitcher said he saw a resolution most likely forthcoming.
Masterson's arbitration hearing was scheduled for Thursday.
The Indians have won arbitration cases against Vinnie Pestano and Josh Tomlin this offseason.
