Maryland prep point guard commits to Cincinnati

Cincinnati picked up a basketball recruit Monday night with the verbal commitment of Justin Jenifer.

A three-star point guard from Maryland, Jenifer is the first verbal commitment for the Bearcats this year after head coach Mick Cronin signed a three-man 2014 class that included four-star prospects Gary Clark of Clayton, N.C., and Quadri Moore of Linden, N.J.

"Justin is a pass-first point guard who is fast with the basketball and can also make shots," Scout.com recruiting analyst Brian Snow told FOX Sports Ohio. "He has a toughness about him that is very good.

"He needs to continue to learn to value the basketball and show more intensity on defense, but he was a top target for the Bearcats and they closed following an official visit."
