Marshall beats Jacksonville State 74-55
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Ryan Taylor and Cheikh Sane each scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds apiece Friday and Marshall ran away from Jacksonville State 74-55, giving coach Dan D'Antoni a debut win.
Austin Loop added 14 points, including four 3-pointers for Marshall.
Avery Moore came off the bench to score 18 for Jacksonville State and JaQuail Townser added 11.
Taylor made a layup at 17:06 in the first half to put Marshall up 8-6 and the Thundering Herd began to pull away. JSU went on a 6-0 run at the end of the half, but trailed 35-24 at the break.
Marshall opened the second half with a 7-2 run which included a 3-pointer by Loop, and surged ahead on runs of 8-0 and 9-0.
D'Antoni was hired in April after spending the past two seasons as a Los Angeles Lakers assistant coach under his brother, Mike D'Antoni.
