Marquette adds fourth commitment to 2013 class

MILWAUKEE — With two top-100 commitments already in the class of 2013, Marquette added a fourth overall commitment to its 2013 class on Wednesday in 2013 guard John Dawson, according to Scout.com.

The 6-2, 190-pound combo guard from New Mexico also boasted offers from Auburn, Colorado State, Creighton, UTEP and Wyoming. He'll join a now-four-man class that also includes top-100 point guard Duane Wilson, top-100 small forward Deonte Burton, and junior college transfer Jameel McKay.

Dawson has, more or less, been considered an under-the-radar prospect, as Scout has yet to give him a rating. Other recruiting services rank him as a three-star point guard.

According to Scout, Marquette's four-man 2013 class is currently the eighth-best in the country with Burton and Wilson providing the bulk of the star power. Marquette could be in play for a bigger recruiting class if big man Chris Otule chooses not to apply for a sixth year in the program, but the plans for that remain a long way from being set.

But for now, Dawson's commitment should provide some more backcourt depth for an already solid 2013 class.
