The Marlins officially announced the signing of free agent catcher Jarrod Salatalamacchia Friday morning.

Saltalamacchia, who won a World Series last year with the Red Sox, agreed to a three-year deal worth $21 million.

The 28-year-old hit .273 with 14 home runs and a career-high 65 RBI, putting him near the top of those offensive categories amongst backstops.

Over a seven-year career, the Royal Palm Beach High graduate is a lifetime .246 batter with 78 dingers and 275 runs driven in. He will meet with the media Monday afternoon at the Winter Meetings in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

Miami isn't done making moves during Hot Stove season.

Free agent infielder Rafael Furcal agreed to a one-year deal on Thursday night. The 36-year-old, who missed all of 2013 with Tommy John Surgery, will be the club's starting second baseman.

Furcal is a three-time All-Star, including in 2012 with the Cardinals.
