Mark Sanchez pulls a Mark Sanchez in first preseason series

By Sid Saraf, FOXSports.com Well, that didn't take long. The Jets' quarterback battle may have become a tad clearer in the first series of their preseason game against the Jets. After getting a first down, the embattled Mark Sanchez faded back to set up a screen play, which was doomed from the start. Instead of throwing the ball into the ground and living to fight on another down, Sanchez forced a pass that was intercepted by Detroit rookie Ziggy Ansah and returned 14 yards for a touchdown.

(H/T to SB Nation for this) Here, allow me to summarize what just happened:

The reaction on Twitter was quick and fierce:

Eek. Hey, an optimist would say that Mark Sanchez didn't take long to throw his first touchdown pass (H/T to Andy Nesbitt for the one-liner).

UPDATE: Things turned around for Sanchez after that disaster. He gathered himself, got back on the field and led the Jets on a scoring drive that ended with him firing a 26-yard touchdown pass to Jeff Cumberland. He finished the game with 125 yards while completing 10 of 13 passes. Nice save, Mark. That doesn't make the interception less funny, but you didn't go out bad. Questions? Comments?
