NEW YORK (AP) Mamdooha overcame a year layoff to extend her winning streak to five with a narrow victory Saturday in the $100,000 Correction Stakes at foggy Aqueduct.
Rallying wide through the lane on a sloppy track, Mamdooha edged Expression by a head in her first start in 364 days. Her last four wins have all been stakes, at distances up to seven furlongs.
Mamdooha, ridden by Irad Ortiz, Jr. for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin, ran the six furlongs in 1:12.67 for older filly and mare sprinters.
Mamdooha paid $12.40, $4.80 and $4.40. Expression returned $4.60 and $3.40 while Aireofdistinction paid $5.30 to show.
