Mack's big 2nd half helps Hawks beat Mavericks
DALLAS (AP) -- Shelvin Mack scored 11 of his 13 points in the second half, and the Atlanta Hawks beat the Dallas Mavericks 91-84 on Friday night.
The game was tied 68-68 before Mack hit a 3-pointer with 38 seconds left in the third quarter to put Atlanta (4-0) ahead to stay.
Each team shot 37 percent from the field.
HAWKS: Al Horford had 16 points, adding five rebounds and two steals.
MAVERICKS: John Jenkins had 16 points. He leads Dallas (0-4) this preseason with 19.3 points per game.
STAR WATCH: Dirk Nowitzki made his preseason debut for Dallas, with six points and seven assists in 18 minutes. Deron Williams (strained left calf) and Chandler Parsons (right knee surgery) still haven't played.
MIDSEASON FORM: Dallas point guard J.J. Barea had seven assists playing in the first half only.
UP NEXT: Hawks host Miami on Sunday night. Mavericks visit Cleveland on Monday.
