Ohio edges Toledo 95-90 in overtime

ATHENS, Ohio (AP) -- Maurice Ndour scored 28 points and Stevie Taylor added 23 as Ohio edged Toledo 95-90 in overtime Saturday.

Ndour's dunk with 1:06 left gave Ohio (16-5, 6-2 Mid-American) a 91-90 lead. On Toledo's next possession, Taylor forced a turnover with a five-second call and hit a shot at the other end to open a 93-90 lead.

Julius Brown, who led Toledo (18-3, 6-2) with 28 points, missed a 3-pointer with 11 seconds left and Taylor secured the win with a fast-break layup.

 

Kent State gets by Akron 60-57

KENT, Ohio (AP) -- Darren Goodson scored 12 points, including the game-winning 3-pointer, as Kent State edged Akron 60-57 on Saturday.

Goodson scored the last eight points of the game for Kent State (12-9, 3-5 Mid-American) and banked in a deep 3-pointer with 1.6 seconds left to down Akron (14-7, 6-2).

The Zips erased a six-point deficit with 1:42 left to tie the game at 57 on Demetrius Treadwell's basket with 34 seconds left.

Goodson was the lone Kent State player in double figures. Both teams shot 44.4 percent from the field, but Akron committed 18 turnovers compared with 11 for Kent State.

Treadwell had 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Zips. Quincy Diggs added 15 points and Nick Harney had 11.

The win snapped a four-game losing streak for Kent State and put an end to a three-game winning streak for Akron.

 

 

Felder pushes Miami (Ohio) past E Michigan 65-61

OXFORD, Ohio (AP) -- Will Felder, who had 17 points and 15 rebounds, hit a go-ahead jumper with 25 seconds left to lift Miami (Ohio) past Eastern Michigan 65-61 Saturday.

The RedHawks (9-10, 5-3 Mid-American) shot 43.1 percent from the field. Will Sullivan finished with 19 points and Geovonie McKnight had 10.

Ray Lee paced Eastern Michigan (12-9, 4-4) with 18 points and Karrington Ward had 16 with seven boards.

Miami trailed by eight at halftime, but crawled back to take the lead as Sullivan hit a 3-pointer, Bill Edwards sank a jumper, and Felder made three free throws to lead 59-53 with 4:04 remaining.

Lee hit two straight 3-pointers to tie it at 61. Miami corralled an offensive rebound after Felder's first jumper was blocked and he drained the next attempt.

Lee couldn't connect on a 3-pointer in the final seconds and Sullivan made two free throws to cap the scoring.
