MINNEAPOLIS -- Cheryl Reeve didn't have to look far for Brittney Griner's replacement in Saturday's WNBA All-Star Game.

Friday afternoon, the Minnesota coach tabbed Lynx forward Rebekkah Brunson to start for the Western Conference in place of Griner, who was voted in as a starter by fans but won't play due to a sprained left knee. Brunson joins Minnesota teammates Maya Moore and Seimone Augustus in the starting lineup, marking the first time in Lynx history they've had three players on the floor for the All-Star Game's opening tip.

The leading rebounder in team history, Brunson averages 9.2 boards and 10.6 points per game. Western conference coaches also voted Lynx point guard Lindsay Whalen into the game as a reserve.

The WNBA announced Thursday that Seattle's Tina Thompson will take Griner's roster spot for the All-Star Game, which tips off at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Uncasville, Conn., at the Connecticut Suns' Mohegan Sun Arena.
