Loucheiz Purifoy among four suspended for Gators opener
Florida has suspended starting cornerback Loucheiz Purifoy and three backups for its home opener against Toledo, the school confirmed Saturday morning.
Purifoy, backup defensive tackle Darious Cummings, backup wide receiver Latroy Pittman and backup offensive lineman Quinteze Williams will not play against Toledo due to a violation of team rules.
Some outlets reported that Jay-nard Bostwick had been suspended as well, but he was not among the suspensions announced by the school.
The Palm Beach Post reported the suspensions of Purifoy and Pittman are due to failed drug tests.
Purifoy is considered one of the Gators' top talents. In addition to defense, Purifoy also is a skilled returner and is expected to be worked into the offense as well.
Starting middle linebacker Antonio Morrison was already slated to miss the opener after a pair of offseason arrests.
