Longshot Codacious rallies to win feature at Los Alamitos

LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. (AP) Codacious won the $59,946 feature for fillies and mares by 3 1-4 lengths Sunday at Los Alamitos in her return to dirt after four straight starts on turf.

Ridden by Edwin Maldonado, Codacious ran 6 furlongs in 1:09.50 and paid $21.60, $11 and $6.80 at 9-1 odds. Maldonado rode four winners on the nine-race card.

Lost Bus returned $13.20 and $9 at 16-1 odds, while Bad Ju Ju was another 2 1/2 lengths back in third and paid $8.40 to show.

Lily Pod, the 9-10 favorite, finished fourth in the 10-horse field.

Codacious was outrun early, but rallied wide into the stretch, caught the leaders with an eighth of a mile to go and drew off for her third win in 10 starts. The victory, worth $35,880, increased her career earnings to $152,238.
