The Detroit Lions made a move Thursday to add depth at offensive tackle, a day after losing unrestricted free agent Jason Fox to Miami.

The Lions confirmed the signing off Jeff Bret (J.B.) Shugarts, who went undrafted two years ago when he was coming out of Ohio State.

Shugarts (6-foot-6, 305 pounds) has spent time the last couple seasons with the Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys and most recently the New York Jets, but he has never appeared in a NFL regular-season game.

He will compete for the Lions' fourth offensive-tackle job behind Riley Reiff, Corey Hilliard and LaAdrian Waddle.

After receiving several congratulations, Shugarts tweeted:
