Lightning release 2013-14 regular season schedule
TAMPA, Fla. - The Tampa Bay Lightning released their 82-game
regular-season schedule for the 2013-14 campaign on Friday afternoon.
The schedule features four matchups (two home and two away) against most
opponents within the new Atlantic Division, which includes the Boston
Bruins, Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs,
Buffalo Sabres, Florida Panthers and Ottawa Senators. However, the
Lightning play Ottawa (three home and two away) and Detroit (two home
and three away) five times each.
In addition, Tampa Bay plays each of its non-division Eastern Conference
opponents three times. The Lightning also will play two games, one home
and one away, against each Western Conference team.
On Oct. 3, Tampa Bay opens a three-game road trip to start the season,
against Boston, the Chicago Blackhawks (Oct. 5) and Buffalo (Oct. 8).
The Lightning’s home opener is against Florida on Oct. 10, which starts a
season-long seven-game homestand.
A few games at Tampa Bay Times Forum worth noting: The defending Stanley
Cup champion Blackhawks arrive Oct. 24, and former Lightning center
Vincent Lecavalier makes returns Nov. 27 and April 10 with the
Philadelphia Flyers.
