LeBron vs. MJ: Katie Nolan and the great 'Space Jam' debate
LeBron James didn’t win the NBA championship on the court in June, but July sure has been a heck of a month for the superstar off the court.
First, the four-time NBA MVP re-signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers -- just days after Kevin Love did the same -- meaning the Rock and Roll Capital of the World may once again become home to a sports champion before the end of this century.
Then came July 17, when the film “Trainwreck” opened nationwide and featured The King’s biggest turn at acting yet. The reviews for his acting were typically better than those of the actual film (though it did this past weekend eclipse $60 million in domestic box office gross).
But the biggest news of all came only days ago, when on Wednesday James’ media company SpringHill Entertainment and Warner Bros. announced a content-creation deal which could potentially include projects in film, television and digital media.
Almost immediately speculation turned to a possible reboot of the 1996 movie “Space Jam,” which starred the biggest name in basketball at the time, Michael Jordan, taking the court with Warner Bros.’ best-known characters, Bugs, Daffy and the rest of the “Looney Tunes” crew.
While it is too soon to know for sure James’ plans, it’s never too soon to speculate. So check out the video above, where Katie Nolan breaks down LeBron vs. MJ in the latest episode of “Garbage Time.” And if you’ve never seen “Space Jam” (or just want to relive the magic), check out the video below.
Then tell us in the comments below … could LeBron really one-up Jordan in a “Space Jam” reboot?
