Lady Sabelia wins Belmont's Pumpkin Pie Stakes

NEW YORK (AP) Lady Sabelia drew away to a seven-length victory Sunday in the $100,000 Pumpkin Pie Stakes, the closing day feature at Belmont Park.

The 5-year-old dominated the six-furlong race for fillies and mares in her Belmont debut. Lady Sabelia uncorked a stretch rally down the center of the track for the Maryland-based team of trainer Robin Graham and jockey Horacio Karamanos.

She paid $9.30, $4.70 and $3.40 for her ninth win in 17 starts.

The pacesetting R Free Roll held on for second, returning $4.70 and $4.20. Tea Time paid $3.80 to show.

The time was 1:09.03 on the fast track.

The New York circuit shifts to Aqueduct on Wednesday.
