LA Galaxy acquire goalkeeper Dan Kennedy from Dallas for draft picks
The LA Galaxy have acquired goalkeeper Dan Kennedy from FC Dallas for two selections in the 2017 draft.
The Galaxy announced the trade Tuesday.
The 33-year-old Kennedy is an Orange County native who played at UC Santa Barbara and supported the Galaxy in his youth. He spent seven seasons from 2008-14 with Chivas USA, becoming the defunct franchise's career leader in appearances.
Kennedy made 16 appearances for FC Dallas last season, making 30 saves. He played well in the regular season, but eventually lost the starting job to 20-year-old Jesse Gonzalez.
FC Dallas got the Galaxy's second-round and third-round choices in 2017.
The Galaxy needed a new goalkeeper after parting ways last week with Donovan Ricketts, who occasionally struggled while the Galaxy failed to defend their MLS Cup title.
