Although his stay in Dallas was brief and unpleasant for Mavericks fans, that doesn’t necessarily mean Lamar Odom won’t be able to represent the United States this summer in London.

According to USA Basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski, Odom is still part of the USA basketball pool of players that could play in this summer’s Olympic Games.

SportsDayDFW.com Olympic writer Kate Hairopoulos tweeted the following on Monday: "Coach K reiterates that Lamar Odom will be in Olympic training camp. He's part of team pool; has played well internationally previously."

Krzyzewski was in Dallas Monday for the Team USA Media Summit at the Hilton Anatole.

The Mavericks traded for Odom in December but never received the same contributions that helped the 13-year veteran win Sixth Man of the Year honors in 2011. Odom saw action in 50 games -- starting four -- for the Mavs, averaging career lows in points [6.6 per game], rebounds [4.1], assists [1.7], blocks [0.4] and steals [0.4].
