Kopitar, Kings agree on 8-year deal

BY foxsports • January 16, 2016

Anze Kopitar is likely going to finish his career in the black and white of the LA Kings.

On Saturday, the team officially announced an 8-year contract extension for their leading scorer so far this season.

The LA Kings are the only team Kopitar has ever known since being drafted 11th overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. Kopitar has led Kings in scoring each of the last 8 seasons and has won two Stanley Cups with the team. His 642 points ranks him 7th on the Kings all-time.

Kopitar and the Kings are back in action today against the Senators before meeting the Anaheim Ducks in the first Freeway Faceoff of 2016 on Sunday (coverage starts on FOX Sports West at 5p).
