Kings to honor Robitaille, Granato, Melrose at Legends Night Series
Luc Robitaille is getting a statue.
The Kings' president of business operations will be honored this season, along with Tony Granato and Barry Melrose, as part of the Legends Night Series.
Robitaille, a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame, will have his statue unveiled on March 7 prior to the Kings contest with the Penguins.
The statue, created by renowned sculptors/artists Julie Rotblatt Amrany and Omri Amrany, will join other iconic sculptures of Wayne Gretzky, Earvin "Magic" Johnson, Jerry West, Chick Hearn, Oscar De La Hoya and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in Star Plaza at LA Live.
Melrose, the Kings' head coach from 1992-95, will get his due on Feb. 12 before the Kings-Flames game, while Granato -- who played in 380 games for the Kings and recorded 305 points -- will be honored on Feb. 24 prior to the Kings-Red Wings matchup.
L.A. also will wear their vintage jerseys as part of these special evenings -- the only time the Kings will wear these sweaters during the 2014-15 season.
As part of Legend Night series, the Kings, to date, have recognized Rogie Vachon, Bob Berry, Bob Pulford, Bernie Nicholls, Daryl Evans, Charlie Simmer, Kelly Hrudey, Ian Laperriere, Jay Wells, Jim Fox and Larry Murphy.
